Our 2 days Mombasa safari to Tsavo East & Tsavo West national parks is probably the best short safari that starts and ends back at Mombasa city and the nearby beaches of Diani, Watamu and Malindi. The tour takes you to the two legendary parks that together makes the largest conservation area in Kenya and Africa.
This short safari package starts from the Kenya Coast so we can pick you up from any hotel / resort in Mombasa or Diani in the South Coast with pick up possible from 5.00 Am or 5.30 Am depending on which beach hotel you are staying at. Please let us know when you are staying and your private guide will pick you up from your hotel at the agreed time.
Depending on your arrival point and time (if you are arriving early in the morning), we can pick you up from the Port of Mombasa or Moi International Mombasa Airport and you will be taken straight to the parks for your short safari from Mombasa.
Day 1 – Pick up from Mombasa / Diani, drive to Tsavo East National Park. Later transfer to Tsavo West
Day 2 – Safari in Tsavo West. Later in the afternoon drive back to Mombasa / Diani Beach
This two-day safari takes you to Tsavo East which is the legendary park well known for its red colored elephants due to the soil color, as well as the man-eating lions that roamed the plains during the construction of the Kenya – Uganda Railway (The Lunatic Line). There are also several physical attractions in the park apart from the wildlife. Physical attractions include the Aruba Dam, Lugard falls, Mudanda Rock.
Tsavo West on the other hand harbors the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, has great scenic views, and lots of animals and birds apart from several other physical attractions that you can visit within the park. Tsavo West’s most notable physical attractions include the Mzima Springs, Shetani lava flow and the poachers’ look out.
Animals to seen include, Leopard, hippos, elephants, Cheetah, lions, Wild dogs, crocodiles, giraffes, baboons, and many bird species with more than 600 recorded species.
Your accommodation during your 2 days safari in Tsavo East and Tsavo West from Mombasa or Diani will be at a lodge or tented camp in the Tsavo West National Park preferably. Depending on your preference and budget we can book for you a midrange lodge or standard luxury lodge.

Pick up very early (around 05.00 hrs or 5.30 Hrs) from your beach hotel in Mombasa or Diani beach or from the airport or Kilindini Port depending on your schedule. From Mombasa your driver will take the best way out of town to avoid any traffic snarl-ups until you now along the Mombasa – Nairobi highway which you will drive through towards Bachuma Gate near Voi, with a shot stop at a curio shop to visit the bathrooms and have a coffee break. On arrival at Bachuma Gate you will register and start your first game drive right from the gate in search of animals that roam this legendary wilderness area of Tsavo East nicknamed ‘theater of the wild’. Game drives will go on as you proceed towards Voi Wildlife Lodge or Voi Safari Lodge where you will have a lunch break. After lunch and some rest, you will proceed with game drives out of Tsavo East as you drive to Tsavo West National Park with a game drive through the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary where with a little bit of luck, you may spot the shy endangered black rhinos. Later in the evening you will settle at a lodge in the heart of Tsavo West for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Ngulia Safari Lodge. Lunch and dinner included.
At a supplement you can stay at a luxury lodging like Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge or Severin Safari Camp.
An early start today is very important! Best option is to go for an early morning game drives in the Tsavo West National Park for a better chance of seeing the predators as they return from a night of hunting and also other animals which are more active in the morning. To avoid the morning dew animals also tend to lineup by the roadside until it becomes warmer later by midmorning. After a morning game drive, you will return to your lodge or camp for breakfast then you will be taken to Mzima Springs a natural oasis in the middle of savannah land. You will get a chance to step out of your safari car or jeep to stretch your legs as you enjoy sights of hippos, fish from the underwater glass, zebras, and birds. You will then start our journey back to Mombasa with your lunch at Voi.
Arriving late afternoon in Mombasa or Diani beach you will be taken to your hotel in the city of Mombasa, or beach resort at the North Coast beaches of Shanzu, or Bamburi, or even at Diani in the South Coast where your 2 days Mombasa safari ends. Breakfast included.
