Tsavo East National Park

Tsavo East National Park is the home for the infamous man-eating lions that inspired the film called The Ghosts and the Darkness. The fill is based upon the book ‘The Man Eaters of Tsavo’ by Lieutenant Colonel John Henry Patterson, the man who killed the real lions which roamed and maimed workers who were building the famous Kenya – Ugandan railway that was later nicknamed ‘The Lunatic line’.

The park is still home to many lion prides that roam the vast plains of Tsavo. The park is also home to the famed red elephants; huge jumbos with red colored skin due to the red colored soils of that area. Many other animals; large and small game alike roam the vast park which is the largest single park in Kenya.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is world renown for the postcard picture views of large elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro on the background. Amboseli is home to many elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, hyenas as well as many bird species including colorful flamingos. The park is located in the vast Masai land in the southern Kenya areas that border Tanzania. The park can easily be toured from Nairobi but also as part of our many short safaris from Mombasa packages.

Tsavo West National Park

The Tsavo West National Park is the sister park to Tsavo East and together they make up the largest ecosystem with variable topography and wildlife. Tsavo West apart from the wildlife and birds, boats or various attractions like Mzima springs, Shetani Lava flow, but also the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary where one can spot the rhinos.

The 5-day safari from Mombasa or Diani includes accommodation on full board basis, staying at a nice mid-range lodge or camp depending on your preference. The accommodations included here are midrange but you can stay at upper midrange accommodations or standard luxury accommodations depending on your preference and budget.

5-Day safari from Mombasa Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Mombasa – Drive to Tsavo East National Park

Depending on where you are staying; we will pick you up from your beach hotel Diani or Mombasa, or any city hotel as early as possible, and transfer along the Mombasa – Nairobi Highway to Tsavo East National Park. You may make a brief stop to visit the bathroom and some shopping if you wish, at Gift shops near the park’s gate, then enter the park through Bachuma Gate around mid morning. You will start your first safari game drives right from the gate as your head to your lodge for lunch. After a sumptuous lunch and some rest, you will go on your afternoon game drives returning late afternoon around 6.00 Pm for refreshment, and later dinner and overnight. Overnight at Voi Safari Lodge. Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 2

Tsavo East - Amboseli National Park

Wake up for an early morning game drive if you wish, then after breakfast you will check out and head out of Tsavo East with game viewing on your way out. This second day of your 5 days Mombasa safari adventure, and you are headed for Amboseli National Park fondly referred as Kilimanjaro’s courtyard. Arriving in time for lunch, you will then have a short rest at your camp or take a dip in the pool to cool off, before going for your afternoon game drives in the Amboseli. Overnight at Sentrim Amboseli Camp or similar. All meals included.

Day 3

Full day safari in Amboseli National Park

Early morning game drive at dawn is usually nice if you have no problem waking up early. This offers a great opportunity to spot the nocturnal animal species as they retire from a night out of hunting, but also the other diurnal species as they always more active before the midday heat.

Spend the day with morning and afternoon game drives with a break for hot lunch, or leave with packed lunch and do a full day of safari game drives. You expect to see a lot of animals including elephants, buffaloes, lions, Cheetahs, Warthogs, Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, gazelles, Hyenas, and the list is endless. Dinner and overnight will be at Sentrim Amboseli Tented Camp or similar camps. All meals included.

Day 4

Amboseli - Transfer to Tsavo West

through the Chyullu Gate. You will be arriving in time for lunch at our lodge or camp, followed by a short rest at the lodge. You will then head out for an afternoon game drive that may include a visit to the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary where you will try your luck in spotting the Rhinos. Your guide will advise you on the best parts to visit, then go back to your lodge / camp for relaxation and later dinner and overnight. Overnight at Ngulia Safari Lodge. All meals included.

Day 5

Tsavo West – Drive back to Mombasa / Diani.

This is the last day of your 5 days Mombasa safari. Wake up early for an early breakfast then check out and leave your lodge and drive out with game drives on the way. If you wish you can also go for an early morning game drive.

You will make a brief stop around Voi for lunch then drive back to the Kenyan coast with arrival in the afternoon. You will be dropped back at your hotel in Mombasa or Diani Beach
